ROAD TANKER AS2809 ASSESSMENT REPORTS AND RENEWALS

AS2809 assessment reports and renewals

AS2809 compliance is critical for the safe operation of dangerous goods tankers.

ATE are AS2809 experts and can be called on to perform AS2809 compliance inspections and reporting.  Where required our engineering team can support AS2809 registrations and renewals.

ROAD TANKER HYDROSTATIC TESTING

hydrostatic testing

Hydrostatic testing verifies road tanker barrel structural integrity and ability for the barrel to hold liquid without leaking.  AS2809 mandates this test must be completed every 5 years.

ATE complete this test on manufactured barrels and service barrels.  The test involves:

  • Filling the tank or pipework with water, applying 30kPa and holding pressure for a minimum of 10 minutes.
  • Inspecting all welds, joints, flanges, valve for leaks and verify there is no drop in pressure or distortion of material.
  • The vapour recovery system is tested using the same method with the exception water is not used.

ROAD TANKER FUEL PUMPING, METERING AND DISPENSING SYSTEM CALIBRATION

fuel system calibration

Fuel pumping, metering and dispensing systems require calibration and certification.  As an OEM, ATE performs fuel system calibrations on new and used road tankers.

  • NMI certified tester and measurement instruments.
  • Dedicated fuel and diesel calibration bay.

ROAD TANKER TANK CALIBRATION

TANK calibration

Road tankers are provided with a calibrated dipstick to measure product volume for each compartment.  As an OEM, ATE perform tank calibrations on all new road tankers and offer this service for road tankers in service and repair.

  • NMI certified tester and measurement instruments.
  • Dipstick laser etching service.

ROAD TANKER DEGASSING CERTIFICATES

Degassing certificates

Road tanker degassing is the controlled removal and treatment of hazardous, explosive, or toxic vapours from a tank after its liquid contents have been emptied. This critical safety process eliminates volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and dangerous gases (such as petrol or chemical fumes) to ensure the vehicle is safe for human entry, hot work, or a change in cargo.

ATE perform this work by:

  • Removing vapours using blowers and hot washing.
  • Testing Lower Explosive Limits (LEL) using an atmospheric monitor.

ATE can provide a degassing certificate after confirming atmospheric readings are withing safe levels.
